Historical Background

The Department of Water Problems was founded as a part of Karelian Branch, Academy of Sciences, USSR in 1946. In 1991, it was re-organized into the Northern Water Problems Institute that belongs to the Karelian Scientific Center, Russian Academy of Sciences.
