During vegetation period of 2013 seasonal dynamics of biomass and complexes of dominant epiphyton species on the reed ((Phragmites australis (Cav.) Trin. ex Steud) in highly-eutrophic Lake Pskovsko-Chudskoe and mesotrophic Lake Krasnoe was studied. The lakes vary in their morphometric, hydrological, hydrochemical parameters and overgrowth degree. It was found out that the progress of seasonal dynamics of epiphyton biomass in Lake Pskovsko-Chudskoe had a three-peak pattern with maximum in springtime whereas in Lake Krasnoe there was one summer peak. Maximum peaks of epiphyton development in both lakes were determined by vegetation of diatoms. Complexes of dominant species, in general, were similar, especially during spring period. Biomass level in both lakes was of the same magnitude: in Lake Pskovsko-Chudskoe biomass ranged from 0,8 to 17,8 g/m2 of substrate; in Lake Krasnoe it ranged from 5,0 to 12,2 g/m2 of substrate. Correlation analysis showed significant relationship between seasonal changes of epiphyton biomass and phytoplankton biomass in Pskovsko-Chudskoe lake, while there was no such relationship in Krasnoe lake. Also analysis of seasonal dynamics of epiphyton biomass in both lakes did not reveal any correlation with water level and temperature.
