Международный эколого-образовательный проект «Naturewatch Baltic» (NWB) (к вопросу об экологическом просвещении в странах Балтийского региона)

The paper gives a detailed presentation of the objectives, tasks and methods of environmental education in the Baltic Sea Region relying on the example of the international macro-project "Naturewatch Baltic". The conservation project "Naturewatch Baltic" includes studies of the nature in the Baltic Sea Region and assessment of human impact on the nature, and aims to promote curricular and extracurricular education. The project has been operating since 1992, and contributes to integration of youth in countries around the Baltic in dealing with environmental problems of the region. NGOs use this project to popularize ideas of sustainable development. "Naturewatch Baltic" works in Finland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden. Over 20 000 schoolchildren take part in the project annually.
